Full job description

Position Summary

Elite Developments is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Accounting Clerk to support the company’s construction and development finance operations. This role is ideal for a highly organized accounting professional with hands-on experience in construction bookkeeping, job costing, and financial administration within a fast-paced development environment.

Working closely with the Finance and Project Management teams, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing construction-related transactions, supporting project reporting, and ensuring compliance across multiple active projects.

This is a full-time, in-office position with direct involvement in construction accounting operations across residential and commercial developments.

Responsibilities

Construction Accounting & Financial Administration

Process daily accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions related to construction projects
Record all financial activity accurately in QuickBooks, ensuring proper coding and documentation
Prepare and reconcile subcontractor invoices, progress billings, purchase orders, and vendor statements
Maintain accurate job cost records and project-specific financial files
Assist with month-end reconciliations, bank statements, and general ledger entries

Project Costing & Reporting

Support the preparation of job cost reports, budgets, and financial summaries
Track project expenses and identify variances or discrepancies
Provide accurate financial data to support project managers and senior finance staff
Assist with forecasting and budget monitoring as projects progress

Compliance, Documentation & Coordination

Maintain organized financial documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors regarding invoicing, payments, and reconciliations
Support lien waiver tracking, audit preparation, and construction-related compliance tasks
Assist with tax filings and other statutory financial requirements

Systems, Accuracy & Support

Ensure high accuracy in data entry, analysis, and reporting
Identify and escalate discrepancies or issues for further review
Adapt to changing project needs and assist with ad-hoc accounting tasks as required
Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems

Required

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum 2+ years of experience in construction accounting or bookkeeping
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks
Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job costing in construction
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills and professionalism when handling confidential information

Preferred

Experience in residential or commercial construction accounting
Exposure to progress billings, lien waivers, and project-based reporting
Experience supporting audits or compliance-related financial tasks
