V.I.L. Landscaping is looking for a hardworking, dependable and intelligent person who wants to build a long-term career in landscape construction.
You do not need years of experience. We can teach you the technical skills. What you must bring is a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, the ability to think and a genuine desire to grow.
This position includes a structured five-year development path toward becoming a Hardscape Foreman. You will be paid while learning valuable construction, equipment and leadership skills from an experienced team.
This opportunity is for someone who wants to become more capable and valuable every year—not someone looking for a temporary job.
What You’ll Do
- Help build patios, walkways, retaining walls and outdoor living spaces.
- Move soil, gravel, stone and other construction materials.
- Use wheelbarrows, hand tools and power tools.
- Assist with excavation, base preparation, grading and drainage.
- Learn concrete, cutting, masonry and carpentry skills.
- Assist with planting, horticulture and landscape lighting.
- Learn to operate trucks, trailers and construction equipment.
- Maintain clean, organized and safe job sites.
- Follow plans, measurements and instructions accurately.
- Help the crew meet daily production and quality targets.
- Participate in snow and ice operations during winter.
- Take on more responsibility as your skills develop.

Five-Year Career Path
Year 1: Build the foundation
Learn safety, tools, materials, job-site organization and basic construction methods.
Year 2: Develop technical skills
Learn grading, base preparation, cutting, installation and equipment operation.
Year 3: Take ownership
Read plans, complete technical tasks and lead small sections of a project.
Year 4: Learn crew leadership
Help coordinate people, materials, daily production, safety and quality.
Year 5: Become foreman-ready
Develop the ability to lead a hardscape crew and take responsibility for workmanship, production, safety and job performance.
Advancement is earned through skill, reliability, attitude, leadership, productivity and quality—not simply time spent with the company.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry construction materials safely.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, dig and use a wheelbarrow throughout the day.
- Ability to work outdoors for a full shift.
- Ability to safely use tools and equipment after receiving training.
