Full job description

GM Rioux, a well-known multi-generational transportation company provides dry, reefer and heater transportation services throughout the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario. Its fleet consists of highway trucks, trailers and other equipment.

We are seeking a qualified technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair our fleet of transport trucks and trailers to ensure maximum uptime, safety, and operational efficiency. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to high safety standards.

Key Duties:

Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

Run advanced diagnostic tests and interpret engine scanning software to identify faults.
Examine mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems to pinpoint issues in transmissions, steering, fuel, and exhaust systems.
Test drive and operate equipment to verify repairs and monitor on-road performance.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) including oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups.
Repair and replace truck components
Service trailer-specific systems including axles, suspensions, lighting, and ABS brake systems.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certification: High school diploma or GED; completion of a vocational/technical diesel mechanic program.
Journeyman or Red Seal certification is heavily preferred.
Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience working with diesel engines, commercial trucks, and trailers.
Technical Skills: Deep understanding of air brake systems, electrical schematics, hydraulics, and DPF systems.
Prepare work orders and inspection sheets detailing the problems found and the work completed.
Track parts inventory and generate parts requests to ensure required components are in stock.
Communicate with fleet supervisors and leadership regarding vehicle status, potential delays, and future maintenance needs.
Tooling: Must possess a complete set of standard mechanic’s hand and power tools.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
