MONUWEHKAHAL HOMES

Location: Fredericton, NB

Position: Child and Family Support Worker

Hours: Flexible – days, evenings, weekends, Full-time and Part-time

Job Description: Monuwehkahal Homes operates homes for children, youth and adults in need of alternative housing solutions. We’re looking for employees who demonstrate: kindness, patience, compassion, professionalism, proactiveness, and caring.

This position provides full medical, dental, and pension benefits after a period of probation – but also the resources and training necessary for the role.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide direct care and supervision of the children, youth or adults within the home, based on care plans
Teach and assist individuals with activities such as hygiene, basic cooking money management, shopping, safety skills and other basic life skills
Ensure that a supportive environment within the home is always maintained, through actively listening, taking part in their interests, participating in activities, and generally helping them reach their full potential
Consistently demonstrating compassion, kindness, patience, and professionalism, along with utilizing positive reinforcement to build up each client’s confidence in themselves and their abilities
Maintain an orderly home through participating in regular cleaning, food preparation, laundry, and other household-related activities as needed
Facilitate physical, recreational, educational, social, and vocational activities
Accompany individuals to activities and appointments as required
Fill out daily logs/paperwork and report to supervisors and team leads
Support clients in becoming self-sufficient and independent

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience and/or Education in Social Services, Home Care, Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or similar would be an asset
Preferred minimum of one year of work experience in a similar role with a focus on child or youth care
Experience completing reporting documentation (i.e., incident reports, intake forms, daily status reports, etc.), preferred but not mandatory
Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
Valid driver’s license and driver’s license abstract (preferred but not mandatory)
