Full job description

Salary: $25 - 30 per hour
Reference: JOB-18521

Our client is looking to add an experienced Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to their team on a contract basis. Working out of the Hantsport, NS office, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing the day-to-day payroll cycle, partnering with finance and human resources to ensure payroll and benefits are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on time.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

Coordinate and process full-cycle payroll, including reporting and filing
Validate timesheets, leave, new hires, terminations, rate changes, and other payroll adjustments
Complete payroll, bank, and general ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
Manage payroll deductions, statutory remittances, benefits, WCB reporting, and related requirements
Support year-end payroll activities, including T4 preparation and reconciliation
Process final payments and Records of Employment as required
Provide payroll and benefits support to employees and managers, including assistance with ADP Workforce Now
Prepare payroll, workforce, and labour-related reports for Finance, HR, and management
Maintain accurate payroll records, procedures, and supporting documentation
Assist with audits and other payroll-related projects as required

Experience & Attributes for Success:

Post-secondary education in accounting, payroll, business administration, or a related field
PCP designation or progress toward PCP strongly preferred
3+ years of hands-on, full-cycle payroll experience, including reconciliations
Experience with ADP Workforce Now and an accounting/ERP system; Sage Intacct considered an asset
Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, statutory remittances, ROEs, and vacation/leave accruals
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to consistently meet fixed payroll deadlines
Strong organizational and communication skills, with a high level of discretion when handling confidential information
Experience with multi-entity payroll would be considered an asset
