Salary: $48,000–$55,000 per year, depending on education and relevant experience. Business mileage and authorized parking expenses are reimbursed separately. Salary and responsibilities will be reviewed after six months.
About the Opportunity
We are looking for a dependable and motivated Junior Real Estate Clerk or Legal Assistant to support our busy real estate team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their legal career who wants practical, hands-on experience in residential real estate.
The successful candidate will work closely with experienced team members, assist with real estate files and administrative tasks, and learn the fundamentals of real estate bookkeeping. The role also includes occasional bank runs and document deliveries, so a valid driver’s licence, access to a reliable vehicle and a willingness to drive are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with opening, organizing and maintaining residential real estate files
- Support the team with purchases, sales, mortgage and refinancing transactions
- Prepare correspondence, forms and routine documents under supervision
- Communicate professionally with clients, lenders, real estate agents and other law offices
- Request and follow up on information and documents required for closings
- Assist with file-closing and post-closing tasks
- Learn and assist with basic real estate bookkeeping, trust-related processes and transaction records under supervision
- Scan, copy, file and organize documents
- Complete occasional bank runs, courier trips and document deliveries
- Provide general administrative support to the real estate team
Qualifications
- Law clerk, legal assistant or related post-secondary education
- New graduates and entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply
- Interest in residential real estate law and a willingness to learn
- Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage priorities and meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and an ability to learn new software
- Experience with real estate software is an asset but not required
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Able to work from our Mississauga office when required
