About Our School...
Perth Children’s House Montessori School (Casa Program) was founded in 1974 by a dedicated group of parents in the Perth area who decided that their children, and their community, needed another option for early education. Perth Children’s House is located in beautiful downtown heritage Perth and continues to be a parent-run organization where parents enjoy taking an active role in the school. Our school is dedicated to providing a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for our students.
In September 2020 Perth Children's House opened a second location in Perth to offer an Elementary Montessori program.
About The Job...
The Lunchtime Support staff / Classroom Monitor relieves the Classroom Teacher(s) so they may have a lunch period while maintaining our 1:8 staff to child ratio. They assist in preparation of the classroom for lunch. Supervise and assist children with lunch and post lunch activities. Clean and sanitize the classroom after lunch. Clean classroom materials and shelves to ensure hygienic standards set out by our Sanitary Policy are met. Plan and prepare snacks. This position involves a lot of bending and standing.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday from 11:00pm to 3:15pm
Hourly rate: $20 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Observes all safety regulations as outlined by the Department of Health and the Fire Department, and the Ministry of Education.
- Understand and follow all Perth Children’s House policies as listed in the Policy Binder.
- Obtain medical assistance when required for the students.
- Maintain Standard First Aid (with child choking) and CPR-C Certification (including child choking), vulnerable persons police check, current medical immunizations (including covid-19) and food safety handling certificate.
- Supervises snack and/or lunch activities.
- Responsible for daily tidying up, cleaning and sanitizing of classroom, bathrooms and all other rooms as necessary and in accordance with the Perth Children’s House Sanitary Policy and directed by the Teacher.
- In the absence of a Classroom Teacher may act as a substitute.
- Shares the responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of the children at all times.
Education/Experience/Skills Training:
- First Aid and CPR-C Certification including child choking or the ability to get it prior to starting work
- Up to date immunizations
- Creative problem solving ability is essential
- Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to deal with sensitive issues in a strictly confidential manner.
- Food handler certificate or the ability to get one
