JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of an Electrical & Control Technician.
Reporting to the First Line Manager Control/Mechanical, this position is responsible to follow prescribed safety procedures and regulations, inspect, diagnose, test, troubleshoot, service, maintain, calibrate, overhaul, install, and fabricate electrical, electronic, control, instrumentation, and protective relaying equipment on a shift or day basis.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Install, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, service, maintain, overhaul, and support design of electrical, electronic, control, protection, telecommunication, and testing equipment.
- Prepare and maintain sketches, drawings, bills of material, technical documents, procedures, and work-related records.
- Assist in designing and maintaining computer programs that support efficient station operation and analysis.
- Test and measure electrical, control, instrumentation, and protection equipment according to recognized standards and procedures.
- Assess generating system reliability and power system production, including development of supplementary analysis tools.
- Maintain and operate tools and equipment required to complete assigned work.
- Provide technical support, advice, coordination, reporting, and problem-solving for projects, emerging work, daily routines, and work group activities.
- Plan operating, shutdown, and preventive maintenance work, including work orders, detailed instructions, reports, maintenance history, tooling, and health and safety responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, plus two years of related post-secondary study, or a Certificate of Qualification in a relevant trade.
- Must hold a valid Certificate of Qualification 442A Industrial Electrician licence or 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician licence.
- Ability to work outdoors in all seasons while maintaining lighting, electrical infrastructure, security systems, and related equipment.
- Experience performing electrical maintenance on control systems and equipment such as PLCs, air handling units, compressors, UPS systems, semi-autonomous welding systems, incinerators, radiation equipment, and cranes.
