Position Summary

Family Services of Central Alberta (FSCA) is seeking a qualified and dedicated Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) Mentor to join our team. This role provides relationship-based support to individuals who are capable of having children, who have self-reported use of alcohol and/or drugs OR people with a FASD diagnosis themselves or delivered a child with FASD. The PCAP Mentor supports individuals with life skills, maintaining sobriety or reducing use of substances, and self-directed goals to promote healthy, independent lives.

Key Responsibilities

Provide mentoring and support to program participants.
Carry a caseload of up to 15 participants.
Assist clients in developing individualized, client-led goals that promote stability, well-being, and resilience.
Support clients in navigating and accessing community resources (e.g., mental health supports, addiction recovery services, housing, parenting programs).
Promote healthy parent–child interactions and assist clients in developing strategies to strengthen family functioning, for individuals who are parenting.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with program requirements and agency standards.
Participate in supervision, case consultations, team meetings, and required training.

What We’re Looking For

Experience supporting individuals affected by substance use, addictions, mental health concerns, trauma, or FASD.
Demonstrated ability to engage with families experiencing complex challenges in a respectful, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive manner.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, community resources, and child development principles.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including thorough documentation and case management abilities.
Post-secondary education in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Child & Youth Care, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Valid Alberta Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle for community-based work.
Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Record Check.
