Full job description

Vancouver Chamber Music Society is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeping & Data Entry Assistant to help organize and enter historical financial records into Wave Accounting.

The project involves reviewing bank statements, credit card transactions, invoices, and receipts, and accurately categorizing transactions within Wave.

This is an ideal role for someone with bookkeeping experience who enjoys organizing financial records and maintaining accurate accounting systems.

Responsibilities

Review bank statements and financial records
Enter transactions into Wave Accounting
Categorize income and expenses accurately
Match receipts and invoices to transactions
Reconcile accounts
Organize digital financial files
Identify missing information and follow up when necessary
Ensure records are complete and audit-ready

Requirements

Required

Previous bookkeeping or accounting data entry experience
Familiarity with Wave, QuickBooks, Xero, or similar accounting software
Strong attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work independently
Comfortable handling confidential financial information

Preferred

Bookkeeping certificate or accounting education
Experience with Canadian non-profit organizations
Bank reconciliation experience

Project Details

The successful candidate will assist with entering and organizing approximately one season of financial transactions and supporting documents.

Flexible work hours. Remote work available.

Potential for Ongoing Work

This position is initially being hired for a bookkeeping cleanup and data entry project involving historical financial records.

For the right candidate, there may be an opportunity for ongoing monthly bookkeeping support (approximately 4 hours per month) following the completion of the project.

This may include:

Monthly transaction categorization
Bank reconciliation
Receipt and invoice organization
Financial record maintenance in Wave Accounting
General bookkeeping support
