We are currently seeking a talented, motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer / EI (Buildings) to join our growing team, with the position located at our Vancouver office. FPC is a growing Consulting engineering firm that designs energy-efficient building systems for clients in the insurance, healthcare, commercial, and industrial sectors. Responsibilities of this role will include, but not be limited to the following:
Technical and Design Support
- Help with the design of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems under the direction of senior engineers.
- Run engineering calculations for load analysis, equipment sizing, and related work.
- Produce and revise construction drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Apply BC Building Code and ASHRAE standards under guidance.
Project Coordination
- Help coordinate mechanical design with other disciplines (architectural, structural, civil).
- Attend project meetings and help with documentation and follow-up.
- Travel to job sites with senior staff to observe construction progress.
Professional Development
- Work toward P.Eng. registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) through the EIT program.
- Take part in internal technical reviews and team knowledge-sharing.
- Receive regular mentorship and feedback from senior and intermediate engineers.
Required:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) with EGBC, or eligible to register.
- 1-5 years of progressive experience in building mechanical engineering, including co-op or internship.
- Experience with mechanical and plumbing system design for buildings.
- Strong drafting skills and ability to produce clear construction documents.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead projects from schematic design, detailed design & construction administration.
- Associates Degree in a related engineering/science discipline with a sound knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite proficiency is required.
- Self-motivated, hardworking, flexible.
- Enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, teamwork, creativity, and taking the initiative.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to interface with clients and translate client requests into concrete deliverables.

- The candidate must not require sponsorship, now or in the future to be considered for this role.
- Experience in plumbing design including knowledge of BC plumbing code(s) and applicable NFPA knowledge within the industry, above and below ground sanitary/waste and rainwater drainage systems, domestic hot and cold water services in fire protection services; fire protection design including hydraulic calculations and drawings.
Asset:
Revit (experience with BIM modeling for MEP systems is a strong asset)

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
