Full job description

Overview

PADCOM is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and motivated Accountant to take responsibility for the day-to-day accounting and financial administration of our growing company.

This is a hands-on role within a small team, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently and taking ownership of their work. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll, completing reconciliations, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring accounting and tax requirements are kept up to date.

The ideal candidate is organized, trustworthy, comfortable working independently, and able to identify and resolve discrepancies before they become problems.

Duties

Manage day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoices, payments, collections, and customer/vendor records
Process and maintain payroll accurately and on time
Knowledgeble in Sage software
Complete bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations
Maintain accurate and organized financial records
Record and categorize transactions in the accounting system
Prepare and process customer invoices and vendor payments
Monitor outstanding receivables and payables
Assist with GST/HST, payroll remittances, and other required government filings
Prepare and maintain financial information for management review
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting
Support year-end procedures and provide documentation to external accountants as required
Monitor expenses and assist management with budgeting and cash-flow planning
Identify discrepancies, errors, or unusual transactions and investigate them promptly
Maintain organized documentation and records for audit and compliance purposes
Assist with financial and administrative tasks as required
Ensure accounting practices comply with applicable Canadian regulations and company policies

Experience

Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping principles
Hands-on experience using Sage accounting software is required
Strong experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account reconciliations
Experience with month-end and year-end accounting procedures
Knowledge of Canadian payroll, GST/HST, and general tax requirements
Strong Excel and computer skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to handle confidential financial and employee information professionally

CPA Designation

A CPA designation is not required at the time of hire. However, the ideal candidate will be:

Currently working toward their CPA designation, or
Planning to pursue their CPA designation in the future and interested in continuing their professional development.

Candidates with a strong accounting background who are not currently pursuing their CPA but are interested in doing so will also be considered.
