We are looking for an Architectural Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a practical, results-oriented approach, strong technical and problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
As an Architectural Technologist with Extol Developments, you will work closely with our project management and construction teams to turn concepts and project requirements into practical, buildable solutions. The position will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design and estimating through construction documentation, permitting, and construction administration.
Responsibilities
- Develop architectural drawings, working drawings, details, and 3D models for residential and commercial construction projects.
- Translate conceptual designs, sketches, field measurements, and project requirements into accurate and coordinated construction documents.
- Prepare and maintain drawing sets using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Review existing buildings, perform site measurements, and prepare existing-condition and as-built drawings.
- Research and apply the National Building Code, Saskatchewan building requirements, municipal zoning bylaws, accessibility requirements, and applicable construction standards.
- Assist with building permit applications and respond to questions or comments from authorities having jurisdiction.
- Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and other consultants.
- Review construction materials, assemblies, building envelope details, energy-efficiency requirements, ventilation considerations, and constructability.
- Prepare preliminary quantity takeoffs, material lists, cost estimates, scopes of work, specifications, and tender documents.
- Assist the project management team with procurement, tendering, and evaluation of subcontractor and supplier proposals.
- Review shop drawings, product data, RFIs, change requests, and other construction documentation.
- Conduct site visits to review construction progress, verify existing conditions, resolve technical issues, and confirm work generally conforms with the construction documents.
- Work directly with project managers, site superintendents, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Identify design conflicts, constructability concerns, and potential cost or schedule impacts before they become issues in the field.
- Maintain organized and comprehensive project drawings, specifications, records, and documentation.
- Assist with project closeout, deficiency reviews, record drawings, and turnover documentation.

Requirements:
- Diploma in Architectural Technologies, Building Technologies, or a related discipline.
- Strong proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
- Experience producing architectural working drawings and construction documents.
- Familiarity with Canadian building codes, construction regulations, zoning requirements, and safety standards.
- Good understanding of building construction, materials, assemblies, and construction methods.
- Strong mathematical, technical, analytical, and spatial reasoning skills.
- Ability to read and coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil drawings.
- Excellent time management, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, complete drawings.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project managers, engineers, consultants, clients, and trades.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to attend construction sites within Regina and surrounding areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working for an architectural firm, engineering consultant, developer, or general contractor.
- Experience with commercial and/or multi-family residential construction.
- Experience preparing building permit and tender drawing packages.
- Experience with existing-building renovations, field measurements, and as-built documentation.
- Knowledge of BIM coordination and Revit-based project delivery.
- Familiarity with construction estimating, quantity takeoffs, specifications, and project management.
- Understanding of building envelope systems and energy-efficient construction.
- Eligible for or currently holding professional certification through a recognized architectural/building technologist association is considered an asset.
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
