Full job description

This position will include the responsibilities of a geotechnical engineering E.I.T. and civil/geotechnical engineering technologist for the type of services undertaken by Alpha Adroit . More information on the kind of services we provide is available at Alpha Adroit Services.

This position will require traveling across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. Having a Class 5 driver's license is a MUST, and the candidate may be required to drive company vehicles.

Owning a truck and using it for work is considered to be an asset (we pay standard rate mileage) but is not a requirement.

The successful candidate will have a high level of care, demonstrated through careful attention to details and a great sense of urgency to get things done correctly and quickly, right the first time, in a calm and professional manner. The successful candidate shall be dedicated to the excellence of the work he/she will be doing and is always punctual and ready to do the required tasks.

Technical Skills:

- having a degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or related field- preferably from a Canadian University
- having passed Ethics and Law exam (APEGA's or equivalent) within three months after employment
- ability to classify different local soils and rocks visually with reasonable accuracy is considered an asset
- drilling experience and good knowledge of the local geology of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia is viewed as an asset
- previous work experience in testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt is regarded as an asset
- previous work experience in construction QA/QC is viewed as an asset
- previous work experience in geotechnical design is deemed an asset
- competency in using various geotechnical engineering software is considered an asset

The ideal candidate would also have the following requirements:

- The successful candidate will be punctual and possess good character and attitude- can get along with all kinds of personalities.
- The successful candidate will be a fluent English Speaker, as well as, a competent technical English writer.

Other Requirements:

- Proficient in using Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Perform other related duties as required, these duties may not be under the category of civil/geotechnical EIT or technologist
- Minute taking and note taking skills
- Time management skills
- Conflict resolution skills and ability to handle difficult communications, including also client satisfaction communications, in a professional manner
