Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team at The Sound Public House. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive culinary experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service. As a key member of our kitchen, you will assist the Head Chef in managing daily operations, supervising staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained. Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service during busy periods
Supervise and support kitchen staff, including cooks and food production teams, fostering a positive and productive working environment
Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Manage food safety protocols, including hygiene standards and proper storage procedures
Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
Monitor stock levels, assist with inventory management, and place orders as required
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with health regulations
Contribute to menu development by suggesting new dishes or improvements to existing offerings
Train junior team members in food preparation techniques and safety procedures

Experience

Proven supervisory experience within a professional kitchen environment
Extensive background in food production, cooking, and food preparation
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
Experience working in hospitality or restaurant settings with an emphasis on customer service excellence
Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in kitchen hygiene
Familiarity with restaurant operations, serving procedures, and culinary techniques
Previous experience working under pressure in fast-paced environments is highly desirable
