Full job description

Job Overview

Blue Cross is a well-established veterinary clinic in busy downtown Hamilton. Our goal is to provide the best care possible to our patients within a nurturing and supportive work environment.

We are seeking a qualified candidate who has experience in a receptionist or administrative position and who is interested in joining our team at a busy animal hospital. Previous experience at an animal hospital would be considered an asset. Duties would include but not limited to, answering phones and emails, checking in clients, establishing a rapport with clients and animals alike, payments/invoicing, call backs and administrative work.

Preferred candidates would be willing to expand the role to include additional Vet Assistant hours. Assisting involves duties such as: cleaning all areas of the clinic, preparing tools for surgery, laundry, receiving shipments, cleaning of kennels and litters, re-stocking, assisting techs and doctors with animal restraint and monitoring.

Our operating hours are weekdays, 8am to 6pm and Saturdays 8am to noon. Must be available for regular, fixed shifts. Compensation is dependent on experience.

Qualifications

Prior experience in a veterinary setting is preferred
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor
Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Compassionate attitude towards animals and clients
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Must be reliable, punctual, and eager to learn new skills

Pay: From $19.50 per hour
