Position Summary

Laboratory Technician, Histopathology
Performs laboratory procedures in accordance with departmental and divisional policies. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

Assists pathologist and pathologist assistant at gross bench
Sets up and cleans equipment
Stains and coverslips
Changes reagents and maintains supplies
Accessioning, sorting, filing and organizing histopathology specimens
Other duties as required

Qualifications

Graduate of Laboratory Technician program
MLPAO certification
Experience in histology laboratory is preferred
Basic knowledge and ability to perform assigned tasks
Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral English
Ability to organize and prioritize workload, flexible to schedule changes
Bilingualism in French/English an asset
