Early Childhood Educator (Full-time 35 hours per week)

Mount Plesant Neighbourhood House is looking for an experienced, passionate, and valuesbased Early Childhood Educator to join our growing team. Using a collaborative approach Childcare Director, the Early Years Coordinator and the Early Childhood Educators will reenvision a space for children 3 to 5 years old.
MPNH is a member of the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC (ANHBC). ANHBC Childcare Programs are inspired by the BC Early Learning Framework and the Reggio Emilia Approach. This is an exceptional opportunity to help lead the way and co-create a progressive Early Years Space for 32 children. About You
You are passionate, creative and have an eagerness to work as part of a collaborative, supportive and dynamic team in a non-profit and volunteer-based organization. You are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and the BC Early Learning Framework. You are knowledgeable of evolving philosophies and pedagogies in early childhood care and education, including Pikler, RIE, risky play, decolonizing early childhood spaces and are up to date with current trends, policy and changing perspectives on work with young children.
You are committed to creating inclusive early learning spaces, best through play and enjoy being outside with children in all weather and exploring the community.
About the Position
Under the general guidance of the Early Years Coordinator and the Childcare Director, Early Childhood Educators provide responsive, caring and high-quality programming inspired by the BC Early Learning Framework. Educators nurture strong relationships with infants, families and colleagues, and implement high standards of care and supervision that promote wellbeing of all children.
Skills and Qualifications
- Valid BC Early Childhood Education Certificate required.
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in licensed childcare required.
- Knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework, the Reggio Emilia Approach and attachment theory.
- Understanding and commitment to creating inclusive spaces. .
- Experience with curriculum making and pedagogical documentation.
- Solid guiding and caring skills.
- Understanding of the BC Child Care Licensing Regulation.
- Strong planning, organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent and proficient oral and written communication.
- Passion and commitment for ongoing professional development and growth.
- Creativity, critical thinking, flexibility and sense of humour.
Terms
- Regular full-time position -35 hours per week.
- Rotating shifts between 7:45am to 5:45pm Monday to Friday. 7 hours direct service, 1 hour unpaid break.
- Compensation: Band C2 $23.65-$24.48 per hour based on experience level and qualifications, plus $6 Wage Enhancement.

- This position works in person at MPNH Childcare 800 Broadway.
- This position works some evenings and weekends.
