KPMG’s Tax Incentives Practice (TIP) brings together engineers and tax professionals to help innovative organizations access Canada’s Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program. As demand for advisory support in complex software-driven R&D environments continues to grow, this team is seeking a Manager with deep technical experience and strong client advisory capability.
In this role, you will work directly with senior client stakeholders in software and technology organizations, while leading engagements, reviewing technical analyses, and guiding teams in the preparation of SR&ED claims for sophisticated development initiatives.
What you will do:
- Lead SR&ED client engagements for software-focused organizations, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with program requirements

Advise clients on the eligibility of complex software development activities, including architectures, integrations, and advanced algorithms

Review and refine technical narratives and documentation supporting SR&ED claims

Manage and coach engagement teams, providing guidance on technical analysis, client interactions, and documentation standards

Build and maintain relationships with client stakeholders, including CTOs, engineering leaders, and product teams

Identify opportunities to expand engagements through additional advisory services and deeper client penetration

Monitor changes in SR&ED policy and emerging technology trends to inform client advice and internal best practices

Participating in project planning, resource management, and engagement economics
What you bring to this role:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline

Progressive experience in software development, IT R&D, or technical consulting environments

Strong understanding of software architectures, development methodologies, and modern technology stacks

Experience with SR&ED or similar innovation incentive programs is preferred

Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and lead project delivery

Proven experience reviewing technical work and providing constructive guidance to team members

Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, defensible documentation

Experience managing multiple concurrent engagements with competing priorities
KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information
The expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 to $128,500 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
