Ready Mix Senior Q.C. Tech

Acheson, AB

Are you passionate about quality, safety, and making a tangible difference in construction? Our valued client in Edmonton is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Control Technician to test and inspect ready-mix materials (concrete, aggregates, soil cement), develop mix designs, and maintain quality control across civil construction projects. The role reports to the Quality Control Supervisor (and to the Quality Control Manager in their absence).

Key Responsibilities:

Collect and prepare concrete samples and perform testing at the batch plant and on-site per the Quality Control System.
Develop and prepare concrete mix designs.
Communicate proactively with Batchmen and the Quality Control Supervisor about material issues and adjust batch proportions as required.
Respond to feedback from drivers and field QA for out-of-spec loads.
Maintain accurate documentation and data control for test results and production data in compliance with the company QMS.
Keep laboratory and equipment clean and well-maintained.
Operate safely and promote a strong safety culture; uphold the Code of Ethics.
Perform additional duties as requested.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Minimum 5 years' experience in quality control or a similar field; at least 2 years focused on concrete mix design preferred.
Experience sampling and testing concrete and aggregates is highly desirable.
Valid CCIL / CSA / ACI (or equivalent) concrete testing certification with current certification card.
Solid understanding of CSA A283 and CSA A23.2 standards.
Civil Engineering Technologist designation is an asset.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and compliance with Alcohol & Drug Policy.
Excellent communication and customer-oriented approach.
Ability to lift up to 25 kg (50 lbs).
Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving record.
