Full job description

Position: Consultant Physician – Endocrinology and Internal Medicine

Employer: Healthy Heart Institute

Location: Red Deer, Alberta (T4N 3Z6)

Job Type: Permanent, Fee-for-Service (full-time clinical commitment)

Start Date: Flexible / as soon as possible Healthy Heart Institute is expanding its multi-disciplinary internal medicine team and seeks a Consultant Endocrinologist to deliver comprehensive endocrine and internal medicine services in Red Deer.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage a broad spectrum of endocrine disorders, including advanced type 1 & 2 diabetes (insulin pumps, CGM), thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pituitary conditions.
Provide holistic care for complex, multi-morbid patients in outpatient and inpatient settings.
Collaborate with nursing, dietetic, podiatry, and primary care teams to streamline care pathways.
Lead guideline development, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
Teach and supervise medical students and residents.

Qualifications Required:

MBBS (or equivalent) + dual certification in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine (CCT/CCST or equivalent).
MRCP (UK) and extensive consultant-level experience in endocrinology (minimum 10 years).
Proven track record in diabetes technology, hyponatremia management, and audit of clinical pathways.
Eligible for independent licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).

Compensation: Competitive fee-for-service remuneration in accordance with Alberta Health billing schedules. Estimated $250,000-$450,000 plus/annum.
