Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Automotive Shop Manager / Senior Service Advisor to lead our service department. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in dealership operations, automotive repair, and exceptional customer service skills. The successful candidate will oversee all operational, technical, customer‑service, and financial aspects of an automotive repair facility. This role ensures efficient workflow, high‑quality repairs, strong team performance, and a consistently excellent customer experience.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Oversee day‑to‑day shop operations, including scheduling repairs, managing workflow, and ensuring timely vehicle delivery.
Allocate jobs to technicians based on skill level and workload.
Maintain shop tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental handling standards.

Technical Oversight

Review repair orders and inspect completed work for quality before vehicle release.
Stay current with automotive (transmission) technology, diagnostics, and industry trends.

Customer Experience & Sales

Handle escalated customer concerns and provide clear, transparent communication.
Approve major estimates and ensure accurate, honest quoting.
Develop strategies to increase revenue, including promotions or expanded services.

Financial & Inventory Management

Monitor expenses, budgets, and profitability; adjust operations to maintain margins.
Manage inventory of parts, fluids, and rebuild components; maintain minimum stock levels.
Negotiate with vendors for parts and supplies.

Team Leadership

Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate technicians and service advisors.
Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching for improvement.
Foster a positive, safety‑focused shop culture.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical & Industry Knowledge

Strong understanding of automotive repair, diagnostics, and transmission systems.
Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive or transmission shop management.

Leadership & Management Skills

Ability to manage technicians and staff professionally while inspiring confidence.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.

Customer Service & Communication

Excellent communication skills for customer interaction and conflict resolution.

Business & Financial Acumen

Ability to analyze financial reports and make strategic decisions to improve profitability.
Experience with inventory management and vendor negotiation.
