Full job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated part-time Swim Instructor to join our 7-week summer camp. This role involves teaching swimming skills to children of various ages and skill levels in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong teaching abilities, a passion for water safety, and excellent communication skills. As a Swim Instructor, you will play a vital role in helping campers build confidence and competence in the water while promoting a positive learning experience.

Qualifications

Current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certification (SI) required.
Current National Lifeguard certification preferred.
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C preferred.
Experience teaching swimming lessons to children is an asset.
Must provide a vulnerable sector check

Responsibilities

Conduct swimming lessons for children based on their skill levels and individual needs
Develop lesson plans that focus on water safety, stroke development, and overall aquatic skills
Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules and monitoring activities during lessons
Provide constructive feedback to students to encourage progress and confidence
Maintain a clean and organized lesson area, including pool deck and equipment
Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
Uphold all safety protocols and emergency procedures at all times

Experience

Prior experience teaching children is strongly preferred
Strong swimming skills with the ability to demonstrate techniques clearly
Knowledge of water safety practices and rescue procedures is advantageous
Excellent communication skills with a friendly, patient demeanor
Passion for teaching and helping others develop their swimming abilities
