Job Description:
Robert & Helen Knowles Memorial Home is seeking compassionate and dedicated Resident Attendants to join our dedicated Nursing team on a Part Time Non-Guaranteed (Casual) basis.
Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, the Resident Attendant provides compassionate, resident focused care and assistance with activities of daily living while promoting each resident's dignity, independence, comfort, and overall well-being. As an important member of the interdisciplinary team, the Resident Attendant contributes to creating a safe, respectful, and caring environment for residents.

Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge of and work in accordance with the Mission, Philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Home.
- Use supplies and equipment safely and responsibly while supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Observe, collect, document, and report changes in residents' health, condition, and behaviour to the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Organize assigned workload, participate in care planning, and carry out resident care plans.
- Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobilization, and responding promptly to resident call bells.
- Provide incontinent care, basic catheter and ostomy care, collect specimens as directed, and assist with simple dressings, creams, and ointments in collaboration with the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Assist residents during mealtimes, including tray setup, feeding, snack distribution, and ensuring individual dietary requirements are followed.
- Support resident mobility, range of motion exercises, transportation to activities while promoting resident independence, dignity, comfort, and safety.
- Document resident care, routine observations, weights, intake, and other required information according to established guidelines while maintaining resident confidentiality.
- Participate in evaluating resident care through observation, documentation, and communication with the interdisciplinary team.
- Communicate significant changes in resident status and visitor concerns to the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Develop respectful and professional relationships with residents, families, volunteers, visitors, and fellow team members.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by cleaning resident equipment, replenishing supplies, assisting with admissions and transfers, distributing resident clothing, and supporting general housekeeping duties.
- Assist in providing palliative care and support to residents and their families.
- Follow all Health and Safety policies, including safe body mechanics, infection prevention and control, WHMIS, Emergency Preparedness, Back In Form training, and other required safety programs.
- Report safety hazards promptly and demonstrate a strong commitment to providing a healthy, safe, and caring environment for residents.
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Completion of a Personal Support Worker (Acute Care) course.
- A minimum of three (3) year of experience as a Resident Attendant is preferred.
- Good previous work record.
- Physically and mentally capable of performing assigned duties.
- Neat and professional appearance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to take direction and exercise sound judgment.
- Back In Form training (provided by the employer).
