Full job description

Youth Habilitation Quinte Inc.’s Accounting Department requires an Accounting Clerk to provide support from our Belleville location. This is a new position, commencing as soon as possible, offering up to 15 hours of work per week at a rate of $25.91 per hour.

Youth Habilitation Quinte Inc. (Youthab) supports, connects and empowers individuals to obtain and maintain affordable housing, good mental health and employment, facilitating their transition to independence. We were established in 1984 and offer services designed around the 3 pillars of housing, mental health, and employment.

Who You Are

As an Accounting Clerk, you are a detail-oriented member of our administrative team who supports the agency’s accounting and payroll functions. You will maintain accurate records, update various spreadsheets, prepare month-end journal entries and supporting schedules, maintain various schedules for funder reporting, prepare audit schedules, reconcile and monitor payroll, and support quarterly internal reporting. You will also contribute to the general functions of the accounting department and maintain positive and effective communication with your supervisor and coworkers.

Skills We’re Looking for:

· Excellent attention to detail with demonstrated accuracy in data transfers, keeping accurate financial records, journal entries, and month end reconciliations

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate files, schedules, and documentation

· Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and positively with colleagues and supervisors

· Effective time management skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

· Strong accounting and payroll knowledge, including spreadsheets, payroll systems, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger

Qualifications Required:

· Minimum of two years’ experience in payroll and general ledger entry is preferred

· Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Excel

· Knowledge of GP Dynamics and Government of Canada portals an asset

· A College/Business diploma in a related field is preferred

· Familiarity in a non-profit environment is preferred

· A valid driver’s licence
