Developmental Support Worker / Personal Support Worker - Belleville, Ontario - CAD$108.00/week

Description

About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a senior woman in Belleville who values her independence but needs support to continue living comfortably in her home. She's experiencing some memory changes and feelings of loneliness, making companionship just as important as practical help. She's mobile and manages her personal care independently, but household tasks have become challenging. She previously had a caregiver in Vancouver whom she really enjoyed, so she understands the value of having consistent support. She can drive and handle grocery shopping on her own, but would benefit from company during errands if she chooses.

Responsibilities:

Light housekeeping including vacuuming, washing floors, and general tidying
Laundry assistance
Meal preparation to ensure she's eating nutritious meals rather than relying on convenience foods
Companionship and conversation to help combat loneliness
Accompanying her to the grocery store if desired
Taking initiative to identify and address household needs
Providing a safe, supportive presence

What We're Looking For:

Someone who makes the client feel comfortable and at ease
Brings positive, uplifting energy to each visit
Reliable and consistent - she needs to know she can count on you
Takes initiative when you see something that needs doing
Has experience with seniors experiencing memory changes
Patient and calm demeanor
English-speaking
Respects her independence while providing needed support
Strong communication skills with both the client and family

Schedule:

Two visits per week on Mondays and Thursdays during daytime hours, with each visit lasting 2 hours. The family is flexible on exact timing and willing to coordinate with the right caregiver's availability. This is a long-term position for someone looking for consistent, meaningful work with the same client.

The client will be involved in the selection process and must feel comfortable with her caregiver, as she'll be paying for the service herself. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in helping someone remain independent in her own home while providing the companionship and practical support she needs.

The client is independent with mobility and drives herself. She doesn't need personal care assistance or medication management. This role focuses on maintaining her home environment, ensuring proper nutrition, and most importantly, providing the human connection she's missing. The family is very involved and wants to ensure the right fit, so a meet-and-greet will be arranged before starting.
