Our Bradford and Mount Albert locations provide a full range of funeral and memorial services, including traditional funeral services, cremation, memorial services, receptions, personalized services, and pre-planning.
We are currently seeking an experienced Funeral Director to join our team.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will be an experienced, class 1 licensed Funeral Director who is confident in managing all aspects of funeral service: from the initial call and arrangement conference through to the preparation of the deceased, the completion of the funeral or cremation service and family follow-up.
This position requires someone who is compassionate and empathetic while also being highly organized, detail-oriented, professional, and capable of making sound decisions independently.
Key ResponsibilitiesFamily Arrangements & Client Care
- Meet with families to arrange and coordinate funeral, burial, cremation, memorial, and celebration-of-life services.
- Meet with families to pre-plan their funeral arrangements.
- Prepare contracts, authorizations, permits, and other required documentation.
- Ensure all arrangements are accurately documented and communicated to the appropriate staff members.
Funeral Service Direction
- Coordinate, assist, and direct visitations, funerals, memorial services, graveside services, celebrations of life, and other ceremonies.
- Coordinate with various people including, but not limited to clergy, celebrants, cemeteries, crematoriums, churches, reception facilities, florists, musicians, caterers, and newspapers.
- Prepare the funeral home and service areas prior to visitations and services.
Care of the Deceased
- Coordinate transfers of deceased individuals from residences, hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, coroner/medical examiner facilities, and other locations.
- Coordinate and conduct preparation, embalming, dressing, casketing, identification, and other care requirements as applicable.
Other
- Conduct basic indoor and outdoor maintenance (e.g., vacuuming and shovelling snow).
- Basic washing and maintenance of funeral vehicles.
Required QualificationsMandatory
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director.
- Current and valid Ontario Funeral Director licence/registration class 1.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Ability to work some evenings, weekends, statutory holidays, and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn and use funeral home software and related systems.

Physical Requirements
The position may involve:
- Standing and walking for extended periods during visitations and services.
- Assisting with transfers, transportation, and casketing of deceased individuals.
- Moving funeral equipment and supplies.
