The Vanier Centre for Women, Ministry of the Solicitor General, seeks an experienced Receptionist/Mail Clerk to provide mail services for the institution.

About the job

In this role, you will:

process all incoming mail by sorting into delivery locations or pre-determined categories;
process outgoing mail by sorting, weighing and metering in preparation of delivery;
process offender mail in accordance with ministry policy and directives;
process courier deliveries, complete waybills, manifest and custom forms;
perform a variety of administrative tasks;
provide back up support to the Receptionist.

What you bring to the team

Mail Knowledge and Skills

You have knowledge of Canada Post products and services.
You can use the postage machine and scale to weigh and affix correct postage.
You can interpret and apply ministry policy and directives regarding offender mails.

Organizational Skills

You can prioritize and organize tasks to ensure work is completed in a timely manner.

Analytical, Reasoning and Problem-Solving Skills

You can identify incoming and outgoing mail for sorting by destination, method of delivery or other category (e.g., courier, etc.).
You can ensure that mail is properly weighted, metered, folded and inserted into envelopes and sealed securely.
You can determine the correct destination of incorrectly addressed mail.

Oral and Written Communication Skills

You can communicate effectively in person or by phone when providing information on mail and postage services.
You can complete waybills and manifests for outgoing courier shipments.
You can use tact and courtesy when dealing with staff on mail and courier related issues.
