Personal Support Worker - Brampton, ON - CAD$243.00/week

Description

About the Clients:

We're seeking a reliable caregiver for an elderly couple in their late 80s and early 90s living independently in their Brampton bungalow. Mom uses a walker and has limited mobility due to a stooped back and arthritis, while Dad uses a cane and has experienced several falls recently due to balance issues. Despite these challenges, they maintain their independence with Dad handling most household tasks. Their three adult children provide support, but the family recognizes the need for consistent professional help to ensure their parents' safety and comfort at home.

Responsibilities:

This role focuses primarily on household support and light personal care. Key duties include meal preparation three times per week (with leftovers for off days), changing bed linens weekly, managing laundry including trips to the basement, light housekeeping such as vacuuming and washing floors, and occasional transportation assistance to appointments. The caregiver will help with tasks that have become physically challenging for the couple while respecting their desire to remain as independent as possible.

What We're Looking For:

The ideal caregiver is calm, patient, and brings positive energy to each visit. Reliability and consistency are essential, as is clear communication with the family. We need someone comfortable with household tasks who understands these duties are necessary due to the clients' physical limitations. Experience with mobility assistance (walker and cane users) is important, along with awareness of fall risks. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for appointment assistance. This is the couple's first time receiving professional care, so someone who can build trust and make them feel comfortable is crucial.

Schedule:

We're looking for three visits per week, approximately three hours per visit. The preferred schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with flexibility on exact timing to be discussed during the interview. This consistent schedule allows the caregiver to build a strong relationship with the couple while providing the support they need to remain safely in their home.
