At ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Brampton, we manufacture welded tubes using a variety of materials and finishes including low carbon and higher strength grades with different coatings such as galvanized, or zinc nickel. Our end finish capabilities are used in many industries such as in automotive, furniture, construction, distribution markets and elsewhere. We supply welded tubes of variety of shapes: round, square, rectangular, and elliptical.
We are currently seeking a dependable Material Handler - Cutting Crane for our Brampton Facility.
Location: Queen Street & McLaughlin
Various Shifts: Midnights: Sunday 11pm - Friday 7am
Wage: $22.55 per hour
Responsibilities and Duties
- Under the guidance and direction of the supervisor, safely and efficiently operates the overhead crane, as required, to ensure safe production and transportation of a Quality product.
- At the start of each shift check the operating condition of the crane to ensure that its controls are working properly and report any problem or damage to your supervisor.
- Operate bridge crane to move, position and place product or equipment according to production requirements
- Secure lifts and drop loads with appropriate placement of chains/slings according to material.
- Check product for correct shape, dimensions, and other specifications to verify loads.
- Deliver the bundles to the machines. Follow proper lifting and handling work instructions to ensure no damage is done to the bundles as the material is being staged for cutting.
- Locate the bundles requiring stringer removal. Using airline, blow stringers out of each individual tube.
- Works with mechanical equipment and tools; flexibility and willingness to work as required and as assigned; Ability to read and perform measurements, using measuring equipment; knowledge of sheet metal gauge, dimensions; ability to read and understand work orders.
- Ensure participation in and adherence to ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Health and Safety systems and requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Steel manufacturing experience
- Mechanical aptitude and abilities
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kgs)
- Flexibility to work different shifts considered an asset
- Crane certification (1 - 2 years' experience)
