Join our dynamic team as an In-Home Math and Sciences Tutor, dedicated to empowering high school students in grades 9 through 12 to excel academically in their math and science courses.
Lady of Learning Tutoring is hiring a knowledgeable, reliable and experienced math and science tutor to provide one-on-one, in-home tutoring to secondary-school students.
The successful candidate should be confident teaching Ontario high school mathematics and science courses. Opportunities may also be available to support introductory college or university courses based on the tutor’s education and qualifications.
Our clients are located throughout Mississauga, Oakville, Milton and Burlington. This is a mobile tutoring position, and applicants MUST have their own reliable vehicle and be willing to travel to clients in all four service areas.
Expected start date: Last week of August or beginning of September 2026

Applicants are not required to tutor every subject listed. Candidates must clearly identify the exact subjects, courses and grade levels they are qualified and fully confident teaching.
Duties
- Deliver tailored tutoring sessions in math and science subjects, including algebra, geometry, biology, chemistry, physics
- Assess each student’s individual learning needs and develop customized lesson plans to address gaps and strengthen understanding
- Use effective teaching strategies to explain difficult concepts clearly and confidently
- Track student progress regularly and adjust instruction methods accordingly to ensure continuous improvement
- Foster a positive learning environment that motivates students and builds their confidence in challenging subjects
- Provide individualized, one-on-one math and science tutoring
- Teach according to the current Ontario curriculum and the methods being used in the student’s classroom
- Support students with lessons, assignments, tests, examinations and course review
- Identify gaps in the student’s understanding and create an appropriate learning plan
- Break down challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps
- Explain concepts in multiple ways when a student does not understand the first explanation
- Prepare lesson materials, practice questions and review activities when required
- Help students improve their problem-solving, organization and study skills
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Communicate professionally with students, parents and Lady of Learning Tutoring
- Provide updates regarding completed material, progress and any academic concerns
- Arrive prepared and on time for every scheduled session
- Maintain a professional and encouraging learning environment
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or tutoring capacity
- Currently completing or holding a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, science, engineering, education or another closely related field
- Strong academic knowledge of every subject and course the applicant agrees to tutor
- Previous one-on-one tutoring or teaching experience
- Strong familiarity with the Ontario secondary-school curriculum
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain advanced concepts in an understandable way
- Strong problem-solving and lesson-planning abilities
- Patient, professional, dependable and highly organized
- Consistently punctual and responsive to messages
- Able to work independently and prepare effective lessons
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
Vulnerable Sector Check
The successful applicant must provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Check before beginning work with any students.
Any offer of work or student placement will be conditional upon the required screening documentation being submitted and approved before the tutor’s first session.
Transportation Requirement
Applicants must:
- Hold a valid driver’s licence
- Have reliable access to their own vehicle
- Be willing and able to travel to clients throughout Mississauga, Oakville, Milton and Burlington
- Be comfortable driving to different client locations based on the students they accept
The ideal candidate has excellent subject knowledge but can also communicate that knowledge patiently, clearly and professionally.
