The Opportunity

We are looking for Child Development Care Coordinators to join our Family & Child Development Center (FCDC) Team at CUPS.

The Child Development Care Coordinator is responsible for providing home-based support for families engaged with CUPS. You will also support and provide a caring, dignified, and trauma‑informed environment for families and caregivers as they work to access integrated and holistic supports that empower them to achieve their goals.

You will help families to create and guide the implementation of social skill and behaviour development plans to enhance emotional wellness and engagement in healthy behaviours from a trauma-informed lens. You will assist families through education and hands-on practical support to navigate various child diagnoses and complex needs and provide strategies to promote optimal child development. This position is key to supporting families to reduce risk factors that have an adverse effect on child development and preventing child maltreatment.

Location: Onsite, CUPS - 1001 10 Ave SW, Calgary
Reports to: Manager, Family & Child Development
Contract type: Permanent
Schedule: Full-time, Mon to Fri, 37.5 hours per week
Starting salary: $57,024.12-$59,846.81

Key Responsibilities

Complete relevant development assessments
Create and support the implementation of support plans and interventions
Develop and facilitate group-based sessions for parents, including but not limited to brain development, child social/emotional development, and practical parenting skills
Collaborate with Family & Child Development Center staff to ensure families and children are receiving integrated and coordinated supports
Collaborate with case managers within the CUPS community development buildings to develop and deliver appropriate programming for families within those communities
Provide recommendations and coordinate specialized care required for children 12 and under
Build families' capacity to navigate and access appropriate community-based resources that meet their needs, such as, mental health, housing, physical health, income support, employment, transportation, and food; facilitate these linkages with existing supports while avoiding duplication of care.
Collaborate with parents, external partners, community agencies, daycares and health providers in fulfilling family needs and advocating for children and families as needed to obtain required supports
Maintain detailed and up to date case notes on client interactions.
Attend outreach events to connect with potential clients in their communities
Provide culturally aware support to CUPS clients and families, celebrating the diversity of clients and being aware of power dynamics of privilege and oppression that may be present
Provides respectful, integrated & trauma-informed care by assisting families where they are at, guiding growth & change in alignment with client-created goals

Employment Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Community Rehabilitation, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology or related human services equivalent
3-4 years experience working with children and families with complex needs
Current Adult/Child CPR and First Aid Certification
Valid Driver’s License and use of personal vehicle to visit clients in the community

What You Bring

Demonstrated experience in coaching & problem solving
Exemplary understanding of child development & brain development for children 12 and under
Practical knowledge of Brain Story, Children’s Ages and Stages, Childhood trauma and barriers related to parenting
Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite, virtual meeting software, with comfort and ability to learn new software efficiently
Strong communication skills (oral and written) in English

Work Conditions

May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, and sitting.
Exposure to stressful events and trauma.
