As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Accounting Manager to join our leadership team.

Position Overview

The Accounting Manager will play a key leadership role within our accounting department. This position is responsible for supervising and mentoring the accounting team while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day accounting functions of the business.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader who enjoys developing people, improving processes, and rolling up their sleeves to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

Lead, mentor, and support a team of Property Accountants and Accounts Payable staff.
Conduct performance reviews, coaching, training, and development of team members.
Establish and monitor departmental goals, deadlines, and workload distribution.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment.
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training new accounting staff.

Accounting & Financial Management

Oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
Review financial statements, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of owner financial reporting.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management processes.
Support audit preparation and external reporting requirements.
Review trust account reconciliations and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and internal controls.
Assist with complex accounting transactions and problem-solving as required.

Systems & Process Improvement

Maintain and improve accounting procedures and controls.
Work closely with operations teams to improve reporting and financial visibility.
Assist with Yardi system enhancements, reporting, and process optimization.
Develop efficiencies through automation and technology solutions.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

At least five years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience.
Previous experience supervising or managing accounting employees.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end closing and internal controls.
Experience working with multiple entities, business units, properties or cost centres.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Clear and professional communication skills.
The ability to manage competing priorities and meet firm reporting deadlines.
A hands-on leadership style and willingness to become involved when the team requires support.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

CPA designation or active progress toward completion.

Candidates without a CPA designation may still be considered if they offer significant property-management accounting experience and a strong record of accounting leadership.

Experience in residential property management, commercial real estate or multi-family housing.
Experience using Yardi Voyager or a comparable property-management accounting system.
Experience with property-level and owner financial reporting.
Knowledge of trust accounting and multi-entity reporting.
Experience improving or implementing accounting processes and systems.
