Systems & Security Specialist
Falcon Systems | Calgary, Alberta | Full-time, permanent | Hybrid with customer-site work
Salary: CAD $80,000–$95,000 per year. Offers reflect relevant experience, technical capability, judgment and readiness to contribute independently.
The opportunity
Build your skills across infrastructure, security and applied AI—with people who value your ideas.
Falcon Systems is a Calgary-based, cybersecurity-first MSP/MSSP serving customers across Canada. We're looking for an experienced, hands-on technologist who enjoys solving technical problems, delivering customer projects and making the team more capable along the way.
You'll take ownership of escalated technical issues and defined project workstreams, working directly with customers, teammates and leadership. You are not expected to be the sole expert in every domain. The role combines independent troubleshooting with the judgment to seek help or escalate when risk, authority or scope requires it.
What you can gain at Falcon
- Broad experience across Microsoft cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity and customer delivery.
- Approved learning time and access to a broad technical and professional training catalogue.
- Direct access to technical decision-makers and opportunities to influence our tools, methods and service.
- Practical experience using AI in an established service-delivery environment, with room to contribute improvements and grow your responsibilities.
What you’ll own
Escalations
You own: Investigate and resolve issues across Microsoft cloud, Windows, identity, applications and customer networks; complete approved user and endpoint administration.
Boundaries and support: Escalate with useful evidence when the issue exceeds your authority, expertise or an agreed risk threshold.
Projects
You own: Deliver defined onboarding, migration, deployment and remediation workstreams, including customer-site implementation, rollback preparation, testing and handoff.
Boundaries and support: Work within agreed scope and design. Architecture, scope changes and additional customer commitments are agreed with the appropriate technical or business owner.
Cybersecurity
You own: Implement approved controls, gather and preserve evidence, execute authorized playbook actions and verify remediation and recovery.
Boundaries and support: Support the security programme rather than own it alone. Material incident decisions, broad containment and customer-risk decisions remain with the designated incident lead or technical authority.
AI and improvement
You own: Use approved AI, check its results, protect customer information, and turn recurring fixes into better knowledge, processes and safe automation.
Boundaries and support: Building Falcon’s AI platform is not the core job. Scripting or agent-building experience is an additional strength; production changes follow review and approval.
Across this work, you’ll keep customers and teammates informed, maintain useful ticket and time records, document what changed, and carry delivery through verification and customer confirmation.
AI at Falcon
We built our own internal AI operating system out of practical service-delivery needs. That experience has led to products and solutions already in commercial use. Our direction is increasingly autonomous IT operations that create more time for customer relationships—while keeping security, accountability and our commitments central.
What you bring
Core foundations
- Approximately five or more years of progressive, hands-on IT experience; demonstrated capability and ownership matter more than a strict year count.
- Relevant post-secondary education or technical training, or an equivalent combination of professional experience and certifications.
- Independent troubleshooting across Microsoft 365, Windows, identity, applications and common infrastructure.
- Experience owning escalations and defined projects, deployments, migrations or customer onboarding work.
- Hands-on experience with PSA and RMM tools, including useful ticket, time and work records.
- Practical networking and cybersecurity judgment, including implementing controls, gathering evidence or completing technical remediation within your authority.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical people, reliable documentation and follow-through, and a willingness to share knowledge and ask for help.
- Willingness to use Falcon-approved AI responsibly, protect information and independently validate results. A previous employer's restrictions on AI use are respected.
Useful additional experience
A relevant technical certification is an asset; demonstrated capability determines fit.
MSP/MSSP or multi-customer delivery; Microsoft cloud migrations and security controls; endpoint protection, managed SOC and backup services; networking and business voice platforms; or PowerShell and workflow automation. Comparable-platform experience is welcome—you do not need experience with every product in our environment.
Working arrangements
This is full-time, permanent employment based in Calgary. Hybrid work combines remote work with regular customer-site attendance; it is not a fully remote position.
Normal hours are 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Calgary time, with occasional planned after-hours implementations. Occasional planned travel within Canada, including overnight travel, may be required for customer work or industry commitments. Applicants need eligibility to work in Canada, a valid driver's licence and reliable transportation for customer-site work.
How we work and hire
We value growth, creativity, accountability, clear communication and care for customers and colleagues. If you enjoy untangling technical problems, sharing what you learn and helping customers understand their options, we'd like to meet you.
Apply through Indeed with your résumé and application answers. Shortlisted candidates take part in job-relevant interviews and a practical exercise using synthetic evidence, not live customer systems. Do not include confidential employer or customer information in your examples.
Falcon may use AI-assisted tools to organize application evidence and support human review. People make all material hiring decisions. Accommodation requests and hiring questions can be directed to [email protected].
