We're a growing quick service restaurant (QSR) brand with 14 locations across Alberta, including a food truck, with multiple new restaurant openings planned across Calgary and Edmonton over the coming months.

As we continue our journey toward 20+ locations, we're looking for an experienced HR Lead to help shape the people strategies that support our growth. Working closely with our HR Team, Operations, and Leadership teams, you'll play a key role in attracting top talent, developing leaders, strengthening our culture, and continuously improving the people programs that drive our business forward.
This role goes beyond traditional HR administration. You'll partner closely with Store Managers and Leadership to build high-performing teams, support employee development, enhance the team member experience, and help scale our HR programs across a fast-growing multi-unit restaurant organization.
WHAT YOU'LL LEAD
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Lead the full recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing and interviewing through hiring and onboarding.
- Partner with Store Managers and Leadership to identify hiring needs and build high-performing teams.
- Build talent pipelines through job boards, community partnerships, networking, and recruitment initiatives.
- Strengthen HANKKi's employer brand to attract top talent.
Onboarding & Employee Experience
- Lead the onboarding and orientation process to ensure every new team member has a positive and consistent start.
- Support the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, development, performance management, and offboarding.
- Champion a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture that reflects HANKKi's values.
- Lead employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives.
HR Operations
- Lead the day-to-day execution of HR policies, procedures, and people operations.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation, and HRIS data.
- Prepare employment agreements, letters, policy acknowledgements, and other HR documentation.
- Support employee benefits administration and partner with Payroll to ensure accurate and timely people-related processes.
- Respond to HR inquiries from employees and managers in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta Employment Standards, employment legislation, and company policies.
Performance Management & Employee Relations
- Lead probation reviews and coordinate performance evaluation processes.
- Coach and support Store Managers and Leadership with employee relations matters, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, performance conversations, and documentation.
- Support disciplinary processes, performance improvement plans, and offboarding while ensuring a respectful and positive employee experience.
- Help leaders build engaged, high-performing teams through coaching, feedback, and leadership support.
Learning & Development
- Lead leadership development, onboarding, and employee training initiatives.
- Support in in contiues development of HR resources, SOPs, training materials, and people programs.
- Support career development and succession planning initiatives across the organization.
HR Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Lead HR support for new restaurant openings, including recruitment, onboarding, training and workforce planning.
- Partner with Operations to support staffing strategies across multiple locations.
- Recommend and implement improvements to HR systems, processes, and employee programs.
- Lead projects that strengthen and scale HANKKi's people initiatives as the company continues to grow.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
· Passion for developing people and creating exceptional workplace experiences.
· Demonstrated experience leading day-to-day Human Resources and People Operations.
· Strong knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards, employment legislation, and HR best practices.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trust, influence leaders, and foster strong working relationships.
· Comfortable coaching leaders and supporting employee development across multiple locations.
· Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-unit environment.
· Professional, approachable, and able to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
· Strong problem-solving, decision-making, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS or HR-related software.
· Previous experience in hospitality, restaurant, retail, franchise, or another multi-unit environment is considered a strong asset.
· Experience supporting a growing organization is highly preferred.
RUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
· 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experience in a lead, senior, or advisory HR role, preferably within hospitality, restaurant, retail, franchise, or another multi-location environment.
· Experience leading recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and HR operations.
· Strong understanding of employment legislation and HR best practices. Alberta Employment Standards experience is required, with the ability to support compliance as HANKKi expands into other provinces.
· Experience administering employee benefits and maintaining HR records.
· Experience using Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
· Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
· CPHR designation (or working toward designation) is considered an asset.
· Ability to travel occasionally between HANKKi locations throughout Alberta.
· Valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable transportation are considered assets.
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
