Department: Child Welfare
Location(s): Moosonee, Moose Factory, Cochrane, Kapuskasing, Timmins, or other designated service sites
Reports To: Supervisor – Frontline Support (depending on assignment)

Salary Structure: CBG08 – Collectively Bargained Grid 08
Salary Range: $45,230 – $52,742 per annum

Purpose of the Role
The Frontline Support Worker assists Child Welfare service teams in meeting the day-to-day needs of children, youth, and families. This includes providing logistical, cultural, and caregiving support to ensure children’s safety and well-being during times of transition, crisis, or service engagement.

Grounded in Omushkego values of collective caregiving and respect for children’s spirits, this role contributes to a culturally safe service environment where practical care and dignity go hand in hand.

Core Responsibilities

1. Child and Family Support

Provide direct care and supervision to children and youth receiving services, including support during appointments, visits, and transitions
Assist with practical tasks such as meal preparation, daily routines, hygiene support, and emotional reassurance
Monitor safety, comfort, and cultural connections during agency interactions

2. Transportation and Logistical Support

Provide safe and timely transportation of children, youth, caregivers, and family members to and from appointments, services, or placements
Accompany staff to community visits, intake meetings, or family circles to support smooth coordination
Ensure safety procedures are followed during all transportation and contact settings

3. Supplies and Documentation Support

Support the distribution and inventory of clothing, personal items, cultural kits, and supplies for children in care
Assist with preparing materials for visits, intakes, or team events
Maintain logs and brief reports of support activities, using agency forms or systems

4. Team and Agency Participation

Participate in team meetings, training, and seasonal gatherings
Provide flexible support across Child Welfare programs based on need and assignment
Assist with cultural and land-based events as directed by the team

Required Qualifications and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience providing care or support to children, youth, or vulnerable individuals in a community setting
Reliable, flexible, and respectful with strong interpersonal and cultural sensitivity skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality, clear documentation, and good judgment
Equivalency will be considered. Lived experience in caregiving, Indigenous family systems, or community-based helping roles is a strong asset.
