Job Summary
Legacy+ and its affiliated organizations is seeking a detail-oriented, analytically driven Senior Financial Analyst to join its Finance & Accounting team. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role is responsible for financial management, reporting, and planning across the full group of entities and affiliated organizations. The Senior Financial Analyst role sits at the heart of the group's financial planning and analysis - providing consolidated visibility across all entities and support, with the insight needed to make sound, mission-aligned decisions.
This is a high-impact FP&A role for someone who thrives on turning data into insight. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, equally comfortable building a multi-entity budget from scratch and presenting variance commentary to senior leadership. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating the unique demands of both non-profit and for-profit entities.
Responsibilities & Duties
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets across all group entities, coordinating with department and program leads to gather inputs and validate assumptions.
- Build and maintain rolling forecasts that reflect updated actuals, revised assumptions, and emerging risks or opportunities.
- Develop scenario models and sensitivity analyses to support strategic planning and executive decision-making.
- Track budget performance throughout the year, flagging material variances early and working with stakeholders to develop corrective actions.
- Consolidate entity-level budgets into a unified group view with clear assumptions, drivers, and commentary.
Management Reporting
- Prepare the monthly management reporting package for the Head of Finance and executive leadership, including consolidated P&L, variance analysis, and key insights.
- Produce clear, concise written commentary that explains financial results in plain language — connecting the numbers to operational context.
- Design and maintain financial dashboards tracking actuals vs. budget at the entity, department, and program level.
- Prepare quarterly financial reporting packages including trend analysis, KPI scorecards, and forward-looking commentary.
- Tailor reporting outputs to different audiences — from detailed working files for the finance team to executive summaries for the Board and leadership.
Financial Analysis
- Perform monthly and quarterly variance analysis across revenue, expenses, and key financial metrics for all entities.
- Analyze income and funding streams — including donations, earned revenue, and grants — tracking actuals against forecast at a granular level.
- Conduct expense trend analysis to identify cost drivers, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support program decisions, new initiatives, and investment cases.
- Support multi-currency consolidation with accurate CAD/USD foreign exchange conversion across all entities.
Financial Planning Infrastructure
- Build and maintain Excel-based planning models, actuals trackers, and reporting workbooks that serve as the source of truth for Group financials.
- Continuously improve planning tools and templates to increase accuracy, speed, and usability for non-finance stakeholders.
- Document planning assumptions, methodologies, and data sources to ensure transparency and auditability.
- Support the implementation of new FP&A tools or systems as the Group's reporting needs evolve.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Continuously improve financial reporting infrastructure, including Excel-based trackers, automation scripts, and QBO workflows.
- Take an active role in evaluating and implementing new financial systems and tools that improve efficiency across the Finance & Accounting department.
- Develop and document SOPs for recurring financial processes to ensure continuity and scalability.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with program, operations, and leadership teams across all entities to develop realistic budgets and translate strategic goals into financial plans.
- Act as a trusted finance resource for non-finance staff — helping teams understand their budgets, track spending, and make informed decisions.
- Support annual audit preparation by providing financial schedules, variance explanations, and working papers as required.
