Summary

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting & Payroll Assistant to join our finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will support day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on accounts payable, payroll administration, account reconciliations, and general accounting support and reception relief. This position is ideal for an experienced bookkeeper or accounting professional looking for flexible part-time hours in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

We are seeking a part time team member to work 3-4 days per week. This position offers an opportunity to grow into a full-time role as responsibilities and business requirements expand. Wage will depend on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Process vendor invoices and employee expense reports
Prepare accounts payable batches and ensure timely payments
Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies
Assist with payroll processing, payroll data entry, and payroll reporting
Maintain employee payroll records and support payroll-related inquiries
Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations
Assist with month-end close activities
Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
Support the finance team with ad hoc administrative and accounting tasks
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Provide Reception Relief as needed

Qualifications

1-2 years of bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, or finance administration experience
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes
Experience assisting with payroll administration
Experience performing account reconciliations
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Experience with accounting and payroll software preferred
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the oilfield services, construction, or industrial sectors an asset
Bookkeeping, payroll, or accounting certification
Experience supporting month-end accounting processes

Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
