THE CHALLENGE
The Accounting Associate provides centralized accounting support from Canada for TURBINE-X’s U.S. operations, with a primary focus on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
Working closely with Finance and Operations teams, you’ll support invoice processing, vendor payments, reconciliations, month-end accruals, reporting, and vendor and customer setup. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities, entities, and currencies.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Accounts Payable & Vendor Payments
- Process and coordinate vendor payments for U.S. operations in accordance with established procedures.
- Review payment requests for accuracy, approvals, supporting documentation, and proper coding.
- Process and review vendor invoices and ensure they are recorded in the appropriate accounting period.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation where applicable.
- Monitor payment terms and help ensure payments are processed on time.
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, invoice issues, and vendor inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and organized invoice and payment records.
Reconciliations
- Perform regular vendor, AP, and accounting reconciliations.
- Ensure AP balances agree to the general ledger.
- Investigate discrepancies between sub-ledgers, vendor statements, bank activity, and the general ledger.
- Review outstanding and reconciling items and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for completed reconciliations.
- Assist with other balance sheet and account reconciliations as required.
Month-End Close & Accruals
- Assist with month-end close activities for U.S. operations.
- Prepare month-end accruals and supporting documentation.
- Review outstanding invoices, purchase orders, and other information to identify expenses requiring accrual.
- Help ensure expenses are recorded in the appropriate accounting period.
- Prepare supporting schedules and respond to requests from the Finance team during month-end close.
AP/AR Reporting
- Prepare and maintain AP/AR aging reports and other accounting reports.
- Monitor outstanding vendor and customer balances and identify items requiring follow-up.
- Assist with tracking AP/AR performance indicators and trends.
- Support analysis and resolution of aging balances and outstanding items.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting to Finance management.
Vendor & Customer Setup
- Process new vendor and customer setups for U.S. operations.
- Ensure required information, supporting documentation, and approvals are complete and accurate.
- Verify vendor and customer information in accordance with company policies and internal controls.
- Maintain accurate vendor and customer master data within the accounting system.
- Coordinate with Finance, Sales, Operations, and other departments to resolve setup issues.
- Process approved vendor and customer information updates as required.
U.S. Accounting Support
- Provide centralized accounting support from Canada for TURBINE-X’s U.S. operations.
- Work collaboratively with U.S. Finance and Operations teams across different locations and time zones.
- Ensure transactions are accurately recorded within the appropriate U.S. entity and accounting period.
- Support accounting activities involving both U.S. and Canadian currencies.
- Respond to accounting inquiries from U.S.-based stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of U.S. accounting processes, business requirements, and company policies.
Internal Controls & Continuous Improvement
- Process accounting transactions in accordance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Ensure appropriate approvals and supporting documentation are obtained before transactions are processed.
- Maintain accurate and complete accounting, vendor, customer, and payment records.
- Protect confidential financial, vendor, customer, and company information.
- Identify discrepancies, unusual transactions, or control issues and escalate them appropriately.
- Support internal and external audit requirements as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve AP, AR, reconciliation, reporting, and accounting processes.
- Assist with standardizing Finance procedures and supporting documentation.
- Support process improvements and accounting system enhancements.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Experience
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Two to four years of accounting experience, preferably with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable responsibilities.
- Experience with invoice processing, vendor payments, account reconciliations, and month-end procedures.
- Experience supporting month-end close and accrual activities.
- Working knowledge of fundamental accounting principles, accrual accounting, and general ledger processes.
- Understanding of financial controls and transaction approval requirements.
- Experience working with ERP or accounting systems.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet accounting deadlines.
Systems & Technical Skills
- Experience with ERP or accounting software systems.
- Ability to accurately enter, review, and retrieve financial information within accounting systems.
- Experience maintaining vendor and customer master data.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including organizing, analyzing, and reconciling financial data.
- Ability to prepare AP/AR aging reports, reconciliation schedules, and other financial reports.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP system is considered an asset.

- Experience supporting U.S.-based operations or entities from a Canadian office.
- Experience working with multiple legal entities and currencies.
- Experience preparing AP/AR aging reports and financial KPIs.
- Experience with vendor and customer master data management.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Understanding of U.S. accounting practices and business requirements.
- Experience working with Finance and Operations teams across multiple locations.
- Progress toward an accounting designation or other accounting-related professional development is considered an asset.
