UNIFOR LOCAL 302 POSTINGS

BASIC CUSTODIAN

Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) provides first class education to students and families throughout Huron and Perth Counties. We aim to engage, inspire, and innovate, in all that we do! We are accepting applications for the following permanent part-time 0.50 FTE Basic Custodian at North Woods Elementary School (Ethel, ON)

Hours of Work: 20 hours per week for a total of 4 hours per day, 12 months per year, shift work is involved.

Rate of Pay: $26.10-$26.59 in accordance with the Basic Custodian grid, UNIFOR Collective Agreement

The Basic Custodian duties may include:

Building Maintenance

change lights
shovel snow
operate snow blower
clean and inspect roof
operate grass cutting equipment
perform minor repairs
conduct health and safety checks
service roof top unit

Building Cleaning

operate and maintain all equipment
perform all minor and major cleaning

The ideal candidate should possess:

the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
mechanical aptitude with experience in 1 or more of the trade disciplines e.g. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills;
the ability to use a computer e.g. GAFE;
experience in handling machinery i.e. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snowblowers;
knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies; and,
satisfactory attendance will be a consideration when awarding this position.

Note - A criminal background check will be part of the recruitment process.
