Job Title: Project Development Manager – Sales & Estimating
Full-Time: Permanent, Full Time

Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Development Manager – Sales & Estimating to lead the development of technical and commercial solutions for warehouse storage, racking, and automated material handling projects across North America.
This role acts as the critical link between Sales, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, and international partners, ensuring projects are accurately developed from initial customer inquiry through proposal, engineering coordination, and project handover.
The successful candidate will oversee project development activities, lead the estimating function, coordinate engineering resources, advance BIM capabilities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance profitability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Project Development & Business Support
· Lead the development of warehouse storage and automated material handling projects from RFQ through proposal submission.
· Collaborate with Sales to define customer requirements and develop cost-effective technical solutions.
· Review customer specifications, drawings, and project requirements to ensure complete and competitive proposals.
· Provide technical expertise during customer meetings, presentations, and proposal reviews.
· Develop value-engineered solutions that improve competitiveness while maintaining quality and performance.
Sales & Estimating Leadership
· Lead preparation of budgetary, ROM, and detailed project estimates.
· Review layouts, BOMs, production drawings, pricing models, and proposal documentation.
· Coordinate engineering resources supporting estimating activities.
· Perform cost analyses, ROI evaluations, and margin reviews.
· Evaluate supplier quotations and negotiate pricing.
· Develop and improve estimating standards, templates, and workflows.
Engineering & Design Coordination
· Coordinate engineering activities throughout project development.
· Support structural modelling, engineering calculations, and design reviews.
· Ensure compliance with North American building codes and engineering standards.
· Coordinate architectural reviews including HPSR requirements, egress planning, and related documentation.
· Establish engineering documentation standards and best practices.
BIM & Technical Innovation
· Lead development and implementation of BIM processes.
· Oversee production and quality of 3D models and technical documentation.
· Drive improvements in engineering workflows and digital project delivery.
· Support implementation of new technologies that improve efficiency and accuracy.
Project Coordination
· Oversee project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
· Ensure schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables remain current and accurate.
· Prepare project status reports for management, project teams, and customers.
· Identify project risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
· Provide technical guidance to project managers during execution.
Supplier, Manufacturing & Quality Coordination
· Develop and maintain relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
· Coordinate manufacturing requirements with international production facilities.
· Support logistics planning, customs coordination, and international shipments.
· Review supplier performance and identify improvement opportunities.
· Coordinate quality documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
· Provide technical leadership and mentorship to estimating and engineering personnel.
· Promote collaboration across Sales, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, and Project Management.
· Develop standardized processes that improve estimating accuracy and project execution.
· Identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve operational performance.
· Support long-term development of the organization’s Design & Engineering capabilities.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical discipline.
· Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in estimating, engineering coordination, project development, or industrial construction.
· Experience with warehouse storage systems, structural steel, automated material handling systems, or industrial construction.
· Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, structural analysis, and technical documentation.
· Proficiency with RSTAB, RFEM, Tekla, AutoCAD, BIM software, or equivalent engineering applications.
· Demonstrated experience developing technical proposals and managing complex project estimates.
· Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
· Ability to manage multiple complex projects while balancing technical, commercial, and operational priorities.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: Up to $115,000 annually (based on experience)

Working Conditions:
This position is primarily office-based with periodic travel to customer sites, manufacturing facilities, suppliers, and project locations throughout North America and internationally as required.
