Security Systems Installer Helper
AVS is looking for a reliable, motivated person to join our team as a Security Systems Installer Helper in Kelowna.
We install and service professional video surveillance, access control and alarm systems for residential, commercial, industrial and strata customers throughout the Okanagan.
This is an entry-level position for someone who enjoys working with their hands, wants to learn a skilled trade, and takes pride in doing a job properly.
What you'll do
- Assist technicians with security system installations and service
- Help install and route low-voltage cabling
- Assist with mounting cameras, access control equipment, alarms and related equipment
- Pull, label and terminate cable
- Use hand and power tools safely
- Help keep job sites clean, organized and professional
- Load, organize and maintain tools and materials
- Assist with troubleshooting and testing systems
- Learn how security systems are installed, programmed and serviced
- Work alongside experienced technicians and gradually take on more responsibility
What we're looking for
You don't need to be an experienced security technician. We can teach the technical side to the right person.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working with their hands
- Mechanically inclined and able to figure things out
- Willing to learn new technology and skills
- Able to follow instructions and work safely
- Detail-oriented and takes pride in their work
- Comfortable working on ladders and lifts and in a variety of environments
- Professional and respectful when dealing with customers
- Able to work as part of a team
- Physically capable of handling the normal demands of installation work
Experience that is an asset
Experience in any of the following is helpful, but not required:
- Electrical or low-voltage work
- Construction or renovation
- Data/network cabling
- Security systems
- AV or electronics
- Mechanical work
- IT or networking
- Use of hand and power tools
A valid driver's licence is preferred.
