We are currently seeking experienced Project Engineering Leads across multiple engineering disciplines to support major, long-term projects in Ontario.
Position Overview
The Project Engineering Lead will provide technical leadership and engineering oversight throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating engineering activities, managing technical deliverables, supporting project execution, and ensuring that engineering work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate engineering activities for assigned projects and work packages.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, designers, consultants, and other project team members.
- Develop, review, and approve engineering deliverables, calculations, specifications, drawings, technical reports, and design documentation.
- Coordinate engineering activities across multiple disciplines to ensure effective project integration.
- Work closely with project management, construction, procurement, commissioning, operations, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor engineering progress, deliverables, schedules, and technical issues.
- Identify engineering risks, constraints, interfaces, and potential project impacts and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Review technical changes and assess their impact on scope, cost, schedule, safety, and quality.
- Support project planning, estimating, scheduling, resource planning, and technical execution strategies.
- Ensure engineering work complies with applicable legislation, industry standards, codes, specifications, and client requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, risk assessments, constructability reviews, and project coordination meetings.
- Manage technical interfaces between internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and external engineering organizations.
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and project closeout activities as required.
- Review vendor and contractor technical documentation and provide engineering direction where required.
- Support resolution of technical issues and field engineering challenges.
- Maintain appropriate engineering records, documentation, and project correspondence.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain a P.Eng. designation, is strongly preferred.
- Typically 4+ years of progressive engineering experience, preferably within large-scale infrastructure, energy, industrial, utilities, power generation, or similarly complex projects.
- Previous experience leading engineering activities or multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong understanding of engineering design principles, project execution methodologies, and technical documentation.
- Experience working with engineering consultants, contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong understanding of applicable Canadian codes, standards, regulations, and engineering practices.
- Excellent communication, coordination, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a project-driven environment.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with relevant engineering and project management software/tools.
Discipline-Specific Experience
Candidates may be considered for the following discipline-specific Project Engineering Lead roles:
Electrical:
Experience with electrical power systems, distribution, protection and control, electrical equipment, grounding, cabling, and related industrial/power infrastructure.
Mechanical:
Experience with mechanical systems, equipment, piping, HVAC, pumps, valves, pressure systems, and industrial facilities.
Civil / Structural:
Experience with structural steel, concrete structures, foundations, buildings, site development, utilities, and civil infrastructure.
Instrumentation & Controls:
Experience with instrumentation, control systems, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, process controls, automation, and industrial control infrastructure.
Process:
Experience with process engineering, system design, process calculations, P&IDs, process safety, and industrial/process facilities.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following environments is considered an asset:
- Power generation
- Energy infrastructure
- Utilities
- Large industrial facilities
- Major infrastructure projects
- Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects
- Construction and commissioning environments
- Highly regulated engineering environments
