Kitchen Supervisor

Riverside Lions is seeking a motivated and experienced Kitchen Supervisor to join our Food Services team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys leading others, takes pride in providing exceptional customer service, and is passionate about creating an enjoyable dining experience for seniors. Working closely with the Kitchen Manager, the Kitchen Supervisor will help oversee the day-to-day operation of our kitchen and dining services while ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, cleanliness, and resident satisfaction.

Responsibilities

As the Kitchen Supervisor, you will:

Assist the Kitchen Manager in the daily operation of the kitchen and dining room.
Supervise kitchen and dining room staff and provide leadership during assigned shifts.
Train, mentor, and coach employees, with a focus on front-of-house staff, ensuring excellent customer service and professional work habits.
Assist with onboarding and ongoing staff training.
Promote teamwork, professionalism, and a positive work environment.
Ensure staff complete assigned duties efficiently and according to Riverside Lions' standards.
Assist with preparing staff schedules and arranging shift coverage when required.
Observe employee performance and provide constructive coaching and feedback.
Assist with ordering food and supplies while monitoring inventory, comparing supplier pricing, and maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
Receive and verify deliveries and ensure proper food storage and stock rotation (FIFO).
Assist with menu planning for special events, catering, and resident functions.
Monitor food quality, portion control, presentation, and meal service to ensure consistency.
Ensure dietary restrictions and special meal requests are followed accurately.
Ensure all food is prepared, stored, and served in accordance with Manitoba Health regulations and safe food handling practices.
Respond professionally to resident and family concerns and assist in resolving complaints promptly.
Create a welcoming dining experience by ensuring residents are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion while receiving exceptional customer service.
Conduct routine visual inspections of kitchen equipment and report maintenance concerns promptly.
Ensure the kitchen, dining room, and work areas are clean, organized, and maintained to the highest sanitation standards.
Follow and enforce all Workplace Safety & Health regulations, Safe Work Procedures, Riverside Lions policies, and food safety standards.
Monitor food temperatures, sanitation practices, cleaning schedules, and required documentation.
Participate in departmental meetings and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead by example through professionalism, reliability, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Current Food Handler Certificate (required) or equivalent recognized food safety certification.
Previous supervisory experience in food service, hospitality, healthcare, or a seniors living environment is preferred.
Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Knowledge of Manitoba Health food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and safe work practices.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email, are considered an asset.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical requirements of the position.
