The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Human Resources and management team across all sites. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, recruitment/employment, employment law compliance, health and safety, and workers’ compensation.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and administration of various human resource plans and procedures
- Administer the performance evaluation program; update and maintain wage/salary adjustments
- Perform benefits administration; including claims resolution, change reporting and communicate benefits information to employees
- Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes for exempt and non-exempt personnel
- Confer with HR Leadership and/or hiring managers to identify staffing needs
- Effectively interview candidates and extend job offers
- Manage the job offer process including negotiation and administration
- Administer appropriate company assessments including reference and background checks
- Track metrics for all recruiting activities
- Conduct employee onboarding and assist with training and development
- Collaborate with supervisors and managers on employee relation concerns and corrective counseling; manage and track employee corrective action
- Provide support to employees in various HR related topics such as employee relations counseling and exit interviewing
- Promote HR and Employee engagement programs to create an inclusive culture and conflict-free workplace
- Administer and monitor workers’ compensation case files
- Gather and analyze data; report HR metrics
- Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
- Special projects and group initiatives as assigned
- Other core expectations as defined by the company.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education required; diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, required.
- Minimum one year experience in a Human Resources environment; experience in the produce/agriculture industry preferred.
- One to two years’ experience in manufacturing environment considered an asset.
- Joint Health and Safety Committee certificate preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience in labour and employment laws affecting human resources management.
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Must be able to handle sensitive issues with tact and maintain strict confidentiality of private information and have a commitment to high professional and ethical standards.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate keen attention to detail and task-related accuracy, as well as consistent follow-through skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work in a team environment with individuals of all leadership styles, personalities, and career levels.
- Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other departments when necessary; persuasive with details and facts; ability to motivate and empower with a forward-thinking nature.
Work Environment:
- Hours of work may vary depending on business needs; ability and willingness to travel.
- This job primarily operates in a clerical, office setting.
- Occasional work in a refrigerated warehouse, where temperatures range from 45-55°F or in a greenhouse with a temperature range up to 90°F. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to packaging machinery, and forklift truck operation.
- Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Specific vision capabilities required; employee is to work in front of a computer, sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods is required.
- The position may involve needing to lift to 30-pounds, occasionally up to 50-pounds.
Compensation & Benefits:
This position offers a salary range of $50,000 - $60,000 CAD annually, commensurate with experience, skills, and internal equity. In addition, Pure Flavor provides a competitive total rewards package that includes company-paid benefits, RRSP matching, and paid time off.
