Full job description

Summary

The Junior Mechanical Designer is responsible for carrying out pre-engineering work (sketches, prototypes, testing, etc.), as well as creating drawings and 3D models for active projects within their discipline.

Roles and responsibilities

The mechanical concept to the responsible parties:

Validate and test concepts (prototyping capability);
Understanding the basics of part manufacturing processes;
Conceptualizing mechanical systems;
3D modeling and basic experience in 2D technical drawings;
Propose a selection of mechanical equipment (machines and conveyors) appropriate to the project's needs;
Propose appropriate mechanical solutions for the execution of the project;
Prepare the equipment layout plans;
Under supervision, design custom parts and assemblies;
Sign and seal engineering documents;
Provide support for the installation of mechanical equipment at the customer's premises;
Communication with other team members, internal and external;

Qualifications

The position requires the following qualifications:

BAC in mechanical engineering, automated production or equivalent experience;
Minimum of 1 years of experience.
Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec;
French and English functional.

Special requirement

Good knowledge of mechanical systems in an industrial environment (robotic systems, conveyor lines and industrial equipment, experience in detailed design);
Excellent knowledge of mechanical design software such as Solidworks and Autocad;
Knowledge of machine safety methods and standards - an asset;
Knowledge of industrial automation - an asset;
Knowledge of various industries - an asset;
A driver's license is an asset; the position may require travel.
Good interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.

The future employee will need to be adaptable when it comes to travel, whether in Quebec, elsewhere in Canada or internationally.
