Full job description

This position is not eligible for employment sponsorship or support through a Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP). ALL applicants must be authorized to work in Canada without company assistance.

***Temporary Contract to cover sick leave – 3 Months contract can end sooner or extend longer***

Full-Time Hours

Start time: 6AM to 3PM with 30 minute lunch
Working days: Monday to Friday
No Weekends or Holidays

***Shift end time will vary due to freight volume, traffic delays, weather, mechanical breakdown etc.... Overtime is paid after 9 hours worked***

What you will do:

3 Ton Refrigerated Truck to deliver and or pick up freights to assigned stops within Halifax, Dartmouth and surrounding areas
Deliver freights in good condition and within scheduled time (approximately 15 to 25 deliveries/day and up to 3 Pick-ups)
Use a handheld device to scan documents and freights
Load and Unload freight in proper sequence with the use of a pallet jack, foldable hand truck or a dolley as required
Complete any necessary paperwork accurately
Perform all safety checks, including pre-trip and post-trip inspection
Report on all safety hazards and accidents
Use a cellular phone to communicate with Dispatch, Lead Hand and Manager ie. Truck breakdowns, delivery concerns, answer calls, texts etc….
Provide excellent customer service
Build strong client relationships
Adhere to safety and compliance regulations
Additional duties as required

What you will get:

$21.00/hr. - paid biweekly through payroll deposit into your bank account
City driving only – Home daily; No long haul or US deliveries
Paid Comprehensive training program
$175.00 Safety boot allowance (after 3 Month probation)
Uniform allowance and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Company events - site specific

What we Require:

High School Diploma
Valid Class 5 License is a must
Clean Commercial and or Personal Driver’s Abstract equivalent to province
Courier or LTL experience is an asset
Must have 2 years Commercial delivery TRUCK driving experience in a 3 Ton or 5 Ton Truck
Load and Unload freight in proper sequence with the use of a pallet jack or a dolley as required. Hand bomb when necessary
Have physical stamina to perform duties in the job ie. lift up to 50lbs
Excellent communication and problem solving skills
Strong organizational skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork
Customer Focus – experience providing quality customer service
Adaptable to change
Experience working in a fast paced environment
Experience working independently and with minimal supervision
Ability to work on a team and being a team player
Must be comfortable with using onboard or handheld computer devices
Must have a safety and compliance mind set
