Procase Consulting is looking for an experienced Senior Systems Analyst with strong Oracle SQL and PL/SQL knowledge to support complex Oracle-based enterprise applications.
This is a senior, hands-on systems analysis role responsible for driving the intake, triage, analysis, and coordination of production support issues and system enhancements. The analyst acts as the primary bridge between business users, project managers, QA analysts, and the development team.
The successful candidate will reproduce and investigate reported issues, identify affected system areas, document findings or prepare focused system specifications, and assign or route work to the appropriate developer. The analyst remains involved throughout delivery to clarify requirements, answer developer and QA questions, and keep business users informed.
This is not a full-time development or formal people-management role. However, the analyst is expected to provide clear direction and context so that assigned work is understood, properly documented, and ready for implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the intake, review, triage, and analysis of production support issues and enhancement requests.
- Reproduce reported issues, confirm expected versus actual behaviour, and determine whether the issue relates to application screens, back-end logic, reports, scheduled jobs, data, integrations, configuration, or user expectations.
- Document analysis findings, business rules, affected system areas, reproduction steps, expected behaviour, and recommended next actions.
- Prepare focused functional or system specifications for enhancements so developers understand the business need, requested change, affected functionality, and expected outcome.
- Assign or route analyzed work to the appropriate developer based on the affected module, technical area, and expertise required.
- Remain involved during implementation and testing by answering questions, clarifying requirements, reviewing technical findings, and coordinating communication between business users, developers, QA analysts, product owners, and project managers.
Required Skills and Experience
- 7+ years of experience conducting analysis sessions with business users and technical teams.
- 7+ years of experience creating requirements documents, functional specifications, system analysis specifications, technical impact analysis documents, or similar system documentation.
- 10+ years of experience working with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
- Strong Oracle development or application-support background.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers, views, and data-driven application logic.
- Experience reviewing, triaging, and analyzing production support issues and enhancement requests before assigning work to development.
- Experience reproducing reported issues, identifying likely impact areas, and documenting root causes, findings, business rules, expected behaviour, and recommended next steps.
- Experience preparing focused specifications, analysis notes, and developer handoff documentation.
- Experience analyzing complex business systems with multiple screens, reports, scheduled jobs, integrations, workflows, and business rules.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain issues clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work directly with business users, client teams, developers, QA analysts, product owners, and project managers.
- Ability to work independently, ask the right questions, make sound recommendations, and follow work from initial review through implementation and testing.
Preferred Skills
- Oracle APEX experience.
- Experience with financial systems, insurance systems, healthcare systems, ERP systems, regulated business systems, or other complex enterprise applications.
- Experience working with Jira or similar issue-tracking tools.
- Experience managing or coordinating a support and enhancement backlog.
- Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
- Experience in a lead analyst, senior systems analyst, application support lead, or similar coordination role.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is Oracle-centric and technically strong, but also comfortable working closely with business users. The person must be able to understand how an Oracle application works under the hood while also capturing requirements, investigating reported issues, documenting findings, explaining options, and building trust with client teams.
