Material Handler:
The Material Handler works closely with the Production Supervisor to coordinate material movement on the production floor ensuring all work centres have the appropriate material staged for production based on work orders in support of customer delivery schedules in a multi-shift operation.
Key Accountability and Responsibilities:
Material Handling (90%)
· The position is responsible picking and staging of production material and components required for work orders and for the movement and placement of material in designated work center areas.
· Issuing of hardware from stock to workorders.
· Receiving new inventory, move to appropriate storage locations such as metal racks, tools crib, assembly storage areas for raw material, semi-finished and painted components.
· Unloading inbound raw sheet steel inventory shipments.
· Staging raw material for the laser cutting process
· Working with the laser operator to unload and sort components from the cutting process.
· Complete physical inventory counts and adjusts the MRP system in a timely manner.
· Maintain production floor staging areas to housekeeping standards of cleanliness and organization.
· Complete data entry as required in the ERP System for receiving shipping and inventory issues and cycle specifications via the physical inspection and counting of goods to ensure they match packing slips.
· Maintain material handling equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and completing the daily check sheets.
· Support a variety of tasks within the plant that encompass facilities maintenance, production support, and general labour needs across departments.
· Ensure all work is performed in accordance with EHS practices and internal company policies specific to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage guidelines and compliances to industry regulations.
Shipping Support (10%)
· Palletize, pack and wrap finished products to prepare for shipping
· Provide back up for the shipper / receiver to be able to cover duties during an absence.
· Maintain stockroom area to established housekeeping standards.
Knowledge and Skills:
· Forklift Certification.
· Basic knowledge of fabricated assembly processes and workflows in a metal fabrication environment.
· Sound understanding of ERP systems and inventory / work order transactions.
· Ability to read, work order instructions, and procedures specific to the routing of parts and assemblies.
· Ability to work well as a team member.
· Possess strong Communication and presentation skills both verbal and written.
· Analytical approach to problem solving and developing creative solutions.
· The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines and schedules.
· Demonstrate attention to detail.
