Full job description

At Oromocto Training & Employment Centre (OTEC) we believe that every individual, regardless of their disability, should have the opportunity to live an inclusive and productive life and be recognized as equals within society. If you are passionate about supporting individuals to live their best lives and are dedicated to promoting inclusion, safety, and empowerment, we want you on our team!

On a typical week:

Provide hands-on coaching and skill development in real work environments.
Encourage and support the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
Provide individualized, person-centered support to help participants develop workplace skills, build confidence, and overcome barriers to employment.
Assist with personal care tasks, including bathroom assistance, while promoting independence and dignity.
Foster open communication between participants, their families, and community partners to ensure comprehensive support.
Act as an advocate for participants by fostering community connections, removing barriers to participation, and promoting access to meaningful opportunities.
Promote safety and well-being, ensuring a secure environment for participants.

About You:

Must have a least 1 year professional experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Must have experience working with adults on the autism spectrum, including supporting communication, social skills development, community inclusion, and employment-related goals.
Compassionate, patient, and empathetic with a strong commitment to promoting independence and inclusion.
Self-motivated, outgoing, energetic, positive, encouraging, kind personality.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with participants, families, and community partners.
Experience with documentation, goal setting, and support planning for individuals with disabilities.
Ability to build rapport and trust with clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
Flexible, able to adapt to changing operational needs.
Ability to stand and remain active for several hours at a time. Willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Capacity for light lifting as part of daily duties.
Available to cover full-time shifts between the hours of 7:00 -5:00 Monday to Friday.
Must have valid First Aid/CPR and criminal & vulnerable record check
Social Development check completed upon hiring.
